Alta Devices Internship

As you can see in my previous blog post, I recently had an interview with Alta Devices in Santa Clara, CA.

I took the bus up to San Jose where my dad picked me up in my car and drove me to Alta Devices. I signed in, was welcomed, and then proceeded to meet with five different people at Alta, each for a half hour.

I was in there for a total of three hours, and in my opinion, though I was thoroughly tired at the end of the interview, everything went rather well. One of the Mechanical Engineers there complimented me at the end, saying, "I think you'll be a good fit for this team, Troy." The Human Resources specialist also let me in on the secret at the end that all of them were "impressed with [my] organization." So afterwards I got a cookie at the Specialy's Cafe & Bakery (thanks Lorice).

Alta Devices is a solar company. They currently work with Gallium Arsenide to make their solar cells, and they have broken the world record for most efficient solar cells (recently 28.3% efficiency) a couple of times now. You can find out more about their solar achievements from this article I read.

Well, good news: yesterday Alta Devices made an offer for the Metrology Intern position, and today I signed the papers and accepted their offer.

I'm now officially an employee of Alta Devices (from June to September 2012)!

Congrats Troy! While you're in San Jose, go see Jess at her internship with Shakespeare Santa Cruz. Enjoy your time there!
